Kids Run and Beneficiary
Every year at Gobble Wobble we host a Kids’ Dash. Any and all kids 8 years old and under are encouraged to participate in the Kids’ Dash. Our Kids’ Dash has always served as a way for us to raise awareness and funds for a local beneficiary. Beginning in 2025, we’re partnering with NAMI San Mateo County as our beneficiary. NAMI provides compassionate support, education, and advocacy, to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families affected by mental illness. We chose NAMI San Mateo County as our beneficiary in honor of one of our team members in San Francisco, Emily, who fought a courageous 15-year battle with mental illness that began in her adolescence. She pursued every avenue available (therapy, medication, even cutting-edge treatments) with unwavering grit, honesty, strength, and determination. But some cases, like Emily’s, are tragically resistant to the treatments we currently have available. Despite her relentless efforts, we lost her to suicide in September 2024. It was, and continues to be, heartbreaking. Yet we remain incredibly proud of the strength she showed throughout her journey, and we are committed to sharing the vision of NAMI: a stigma-free world where individuals, peers and families affected by mental illness and addictive disorders experience healing, recovery, and empowerment enabling everyone to thrive.
